The motivation behind my final project stems from a growing concern over the preservation of local culture in Surakarta, a city renowned as the birthplace of many regional traditions that have significantly contributed to Indonesian culture. One such tradition is the Wayang Orang Sriwedari, a cultural performance that originated in the royal courts of Surakarta. This performance holds profound cultural significance and has been passed down through generations. However, with the rise of the digital era, foreign cultures have easily permeated the local landscape, leading to a decline in interest in local traditions. To address this, my project targets children as the primary audience, aiming to instill an early appreciation for the Wayang Orang culture. The book I created includes background information, historical context, and stories from Wayang Orang performances. By introducing these elements to young readers, the book seeks to spark their interest in this cultural heritage and encourage the preservation of this unique tradition.
